Ian Watson

Managing Director

As the Managing Director I oversee the future direction of the business, while working with my senior team to deliver our business goals. I starting selling phones in 1989, at one of the first 26 telecoms companies in UK called Mobile Fone Group, which initially was selling Cellnet as a BT distributor.

We were the very first company in the UK to send a phone to a customer via a courier. I worked my way up from telesales to sales manager and in 2000 took over the business with Dean, who I have worked with for 22 years and in that time I have been at the launch of both Orange & T-Mobile. At a network launch event for text messaging I remember telling my MD that they would never take off!

Sales Director

As the Sales Director for Voice Mobile I set the sales direction, drive and strategy for the business. Ian and I have worked together for 22 years. After working together for 5 years, we decided to create Voice Mobile based on a pure belief, drive and determination that we could make a real difference to ourselves, our employees and our customers. Our very nature is to continually look forward, but when we do reflect and look back I’m extremely proud of the industry awards we’ve won, our Sunday Times Fast Track 100 award, our ever growing & loyal customer base and our talented, loyal and incredibly hard working team. I am still as passionate today as I was at the beginning about taking people on a journey, which helps them with their self-belief, their drive and ultimately seeing them become more successful.

Outside of the business it’s all about quality family time, if it involves my wife and 2 children, I’m happy, even more so if Manchester United are winning! When I was a small child, I used to dream of being a superhero, when I was 19 years old I flew on Concorde and after a glass of champagne (or three) decided to run down the aisle so I could say I ran at supersonic speed!

Commercial & Business Development Director

My role as the Commercial and Business Development Director is to ensure we meet our financial ambitions, through our pricing strategies, negotiating with our supplier base and identifying new trading relationships. I started my telecoms career with Orange in 1998 and held various sales roles in consumer and B2B in the 16 years I was with the network. I left to join Sky Business as Director of Emerging Sectors in 2013 where I managed the Off shore, Book Makers, In Office and Care Sector businesses. I joined voice Mobile in 2015 to continue the great journey in to new markets.

Away from the business I love being with my family, I am the only boy in the house with a wife and 3 daughters to keep me busy, I love being outdoors playing golf, cycling or skiing. I am a big football fan and support West Ham, although I enjoy watching my twin girls playing on a Saturday just as much. I once told Chris Eubank at an event I disagreed with some of his business philosophy, which with hindsight was a brave move!

Group Sales Manager

My role is Group Sales Manager at Voice Mobile and I am tasked to manage the day to day running of the sales arena, whilst ensuring our internal & external KPI’s are being achieved. I began my life selling mobile phones to consumer individuals, gradually taking on managing our police officer accounts, before managing the corporate sales department. Now after 15 years I manage it all! I love meeting new people & seeing our staff progress and achieve their goals.

I am a Birmingham City FC fan and enjoy watching all kinds of football, I love to travel, enjoy a beer or two with my friends and my guilty pleasure is watching soaps. I am a proud Brummie and once gave Conservative politician Kenneth Clarke’s mother a piggy back through Birmingham city centre!

Digital Marketing Executive

As the Digital Marketing Executive I manage the marketing department for the company, across both B2B and B2C worlds, I also design and create all of our brand communications, both for print and web. I ensure everything that goes public represents Voice Mobile and our partners correctly. I like to provide our customers with the best deal possible, one of my favourite parts of my job is to plan our special offers, which I then market to customers and hopefully generate lots of sales! I love the variety of my job and no two days are the same.

Outside of work I love to travel and practice my photography skills, and especially love combing the two, although most nights are spent in front of the TV! I’m getting married soon, so a lot of my time is currently spent planning the wedding.

Business Development and Relations Manager

As a Business Development Manager within the vertical markets department, I manage the relationships, sales and marketing with our closed user group partners. We have many such partners, but after 10 years at Voice Mobile, I am particularly proud to have built our portfolio of Police Federations which now promotes a range of exclusive tariffs to all 48 police forces in the UK.

I am an Arsenal fan (generally just for 6 months of the year), then I become the more commonly known frustrated Arsenal fan for the rest of the year! Sports in general are a big love of mine and I love a good physical challenge. This has included cycling individually from Birmingham to Belfast (via Scotland and Wales), but more currently I am enjoying playing in my local football league every weekend. Very proud of my Northern Ireland heritage and nothing pleases me more than getting home to see my family and friends from ‘wee Norn Iron’ whenever I can. I have an ongoing allergic battle with kiwi fruit – similar to Superman’s battle with Kryptonite!

Accounts Manager

I am the Accounts Manager for Voice Mobile, this involves producing the company accounts and managing the various accounts teams. I joined the business in 2008 as a PA to the directors before working my way up into the accounts team. The best thing about my role is that I can support and help members in my team achieve their own goals.

I enjoy socialising with my friends and family outside of work, visiting new places around the world, watching make up YouTube tutorials and eating… but haven’t grown up too much as I still suck my thumb at 29 years of age!

Customer Service Manager

As the Customer Service Manager at Voice Mobile, I am responsible for all of our B2B and consumer service teams to ensure the smooth delivery of our customers service needs. I have been with the business since 2013 starting as a receptionist, before working myself through the various channels into the customer Service Manager role. The thing I enjoy most is the response from a satisfied customer. I enjoy forming working relationships with all our business clients ensuring they always receive the service they require. I love seeing my team thrive within their roles via their experience on how to deliver great customer service. I can honestly say I enjoy everything I do and am a very career focused individual.

I love making memories with family, my daughter and friends, enjoy long Sunday walks, home improvements and love to spend! Oddly I can’t say the word ‘vinegar’.

Sales Team Leader

Being the Sales Team Leader at Voice Mobile I oversee the daily sales operations in our vertical markets and consumer sales teams. I also contact our existing customers to review their talk plans and hopefully re-sign them with Voice Mobile. I joined the company on my birthday in Feb 2012 as an office apprentice, making mugs and doing mainly admin roles as well as helping the customer service manager with daily tasks, whilst also working behind a bar during my first year. The thing I love most about my role is seeing a difference in my sales team and watching people excel and better themselves.

I am a big TV fan and like to wind down by watching the box after work, although I am a massive Birmingham City fan and I do try to keep fit playing football, or trying to play it, and I once scored a penalty past Stuart Pearce!

Customer Service Manager

The Customer Service Manager role is focused on ensuring customers are looked after by providing an excellent service and have a prompt response rate alongside managing a customer service team. I have been with Voice Mobile since 2005, I was working in the staff canteen at Morrisons supermarket, then and my sister who worked at Voice asked me to come into her work to help post some invoices. The same day the directors offered me an office junior role. Since then I have been on a journey with Voice Mobile and worked my way up to management level creating a customer service team. I really love to be able to resolve customer’s queries. Knowing Voice Mobile have satisfied customers is a great feeling. Seeing customers continue to stay and renew with us each year gives great job satisfaction.

I enjoy shopping and spending time with my partner and daughter, who loves being creative. I am not very tall and when I started driving at the age of 18, I was filling my car up with petrol when the pump was switched off, the assistant stated children cannot use the pump as she thought I was 12 years old! I had to show my ID to be able to use the pump.
